Partnering with OETA
As you prepare to take on the task of distance learning, I’d like to tell you about a partnership we have launched between the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, Oklahoma’s PBS affiliate. This partnership is designed to increase available options for enriching learning opportunities.
Starting on Monday, OETA will be adjusting their daytime schedule to provide curriculum-based programming for students on its broadcast channel, OETA WORLD. Programs will include PBS favorites like NOVA, Nature, American Experience as well as PBS KIDS programming. This will be in addition to shifting programming on the main OETA channel and OETA Kids. Each episode or series directly correlates to lessons and resources available through PBS LearningMedia, a free, digital curriculum service. Assets in PBS LearningMedia have been designed to meet federal and state standards for grades PreK through 12.
OSDE and OETA are hosting a webinar tomorrow, Friday, March 27 at
4 p.m. to introduce this platform to you. Join the webinar by visiting https://zoom.us/j/
959773420. Since space is limited, you can also watch live on OSDE’s Facebook page. The webinar will provide resources and lessons to help teachers learn how to leverage OETA programming. Please visit OETA.tv/LearningAtHome to view the updated program schedule, OETA’s statewide channel list, curriculum and activities. At this link, you will also have access to additional information about PBS LearningMedia, including videos and interactive content, audio, documents and in-depth lesson plans.
We look forward to connecting with you tomorrow. Thank you all you do for students, and for being up to the challenge of learning a new way to “do school.”
I am praying daily for the safety of you and your families.
